West Elementary Receives $2000 Grant

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation recently awarded West Elementary School a $2000 grant to support youth literacy. This local grant is part of $4.5 million in youth literacy grants awarded to approximately 1,000 organizations across 43 states that Dollar General serves. School librarian Tracy Egerman stated, “We are beyond excited that the Dollar General Literacy Foundation chose West Elementary School as one of its recipients. Our library contains a lot of older books, especially non-fiction books. This grant will allow us to purchase current, more exciting non-fiction books for our students to check out. It is my goal, as the librarian, to expand our student’s interest in books emphasizing non-fiction.” With these grant funds, the West Elementary students now have 140 new non-fiction titles to enjoy reading! We truly appreciate this grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.
