Committee Reports/Old Business
Looking for help on the open chairs. There is Soup Supper and Wildcat Welcome Night.
Still waiting on the total for the Culver’s Fundraiser.
Everyone had a blast at the fundraiser. There was food all night with a cash bar, live music, live auction, and a silent auction. Money is donated to raffle off lunch with Mrs. Crawford and parking spots at the High School for the year. There was a very nice turn out. Daryl Graves is retiring this year.
Fifth Grade Field Trip
The Fifth graders go on their Springfield trip on Nov 2nd.
Information on Butter Braids will be coming home at the beginning on November. The sale dates are November 18-28. All orders are due by Nov 28th. Delivery for them will be December 14th just in time for the holidays.
Soup supper is the week of Nov19th. This is when parent/teacher conferences are held. Families provide a variety of salads, soups, and/or desserts for the teachers so they have dinner available to them.
The book fair will be from November 9th till November 16th. There will be a late night on November 14th. The theme for the book fair is Enchanted Forest.
The holiday shoppe will be the week of Dec 17th. This is a great opportunity for the children to shop for their families. They really enjoy it every year. We are looking into seeing if Sherrie will still provide the gifts from her store again this year. She was the owner of the $1 store in downtown Sycamore.
Walk to West
The Walk to West is this Friday October 12th. The kids are really excited for this day to come. We need more volunteers to sign up to help throughout the day. You can sign up in Sign-up Genius. All items that are being donated such as snacks and water can be dropped off in the office. Please dress your child for the weather.
District’s Sustainability Committee
The District is looking into getting rid of the styrofoam trays in the cafeteria. They are going to be switching over to plastic trays that will be washed each day and stored in the cafeteria kitchen. There is a trail run at North school and Southeast school now. The District’s Sustainability Committee will try to be at the next meeting to let us know more on their plan. They are also looking for more parents to get involved in the process of this change over.
Portillo’s Fundraiser – Last Day of School
We will have our Portillo’s Fundraiser on the last day of school again this year. Everyone will receive a flyer to show when you place your order. Those will go home closer to when we are going to be getting out of school.
There is a busy week with the children excited about the walk. A lot of children have been putting money into the Vortex that is located in the office.
The Fire department will be at the school all day on Wednesday Oct 10th. There will also be a fire drill that day as well. The 2nd graders have a field trip to the Fire department on Tuesday Oct 9th. The kindergarten classes will be going to the Fire department on Wednesday Oct 10th.
The 4th grade poster winner and the 5th grade essay winner will get to have a ride to school on the Fire truck.
Thursday Oct 11th is the Apple Crunch day. The children love fresh fruit.
Next week the Lions Club will be coming in to talk about pumpkin fest. Pumpkin fest week the children will walk down to the courthouse to see all the pumpkins.
Map testing results came in and now the teachers are putting together groups.
Food pantry opened last week. It was a huge success and very busy. There are volunteers signed up all the way thru Jan. When the parents come in they only need their ID to prove they live in the district. Sycamore Freshman football team volunteered their time on October 8th.
