West Elementary Choir Sign-up

West 4th and 5th grade elementary choir is a chance for your child to be coached on having a solid singing foundation and to sing some very fun choral music. Each elementary school will have their own in person choir that meets once a week before school.

Choir will rehearse Tuesday mornings from 7:50- 8:30. If you have a child that is in Walk to Learn, they can leave choir early then go to the middle school for class that day. The first day of choir will be October 5th.

We have two scheduled concerts this year, December 16 at 7:00 p.m. and May 2nd (time TBD) You can also pencil in a trip to a sing-in-the-stands event for the Chicago Wolves on March 13th. We will announce other singing opportunities that may arise during the year.

We will be asking the choir members to wear our choir shirt to each concert. The choir T- shirt will feature the new Sycamore choir logo and will be between $10.25 - $8.25 depending on quantities ordered. If you do not wish to order a shirt please provide a plain black T-shirt for the concerts. We will send an email about paying for the T-shirts after choir has begun with the exact price.

COVID-19 Travel Guidance and Requirements

For our families or staff with any upcoming travel plans, we wanted to communicate how the district is handling travel situations.

For DOMESTIC travel:

Please visit the CDC website for guidance on testing and quarantine protocol after travel within the United States.

For INTERNATIONAL travel:

Please visit the CDC website for guidance for testing and quarantine after traveling. Type your destination country in the search bar or click the country on the world map. You will see country-specific guidance based on travel risk.

In a situation where a parent(s) travels, but the student does not travel, the student does not need to quarantine.

Please contact your school nurse prior to travel, if possible. They will provide you with Information we will need prior to your child(ren) returning to in person learning including:

  • What country you travel to
  • What date you return to the US
  • Your mode of transportation (airplane, bus, car, etc).

CDC requirements post travel:

Travel to most destinations will have similar requirements including varying lengths of quarantine and testing options.  Until requirements have been met, and your student(s) has been cleared by the school nurse, your child(ren) should quarantine at home and participate in remote learning.

Please feel free to reach out to your school nurse if you have any questions.

As part of this commitment, we will be requiring all visitors who enter the building during the school day to be vaccinated. We will also only be allowing volunteers at school activities who are vaccinated. If you are asked to be a volunteer or a visitor at our building please know that you will have to submit proof of your vaccination status to the office prior to entering the building or volunteering at the event.

Classroom parties we will only be allowed to have 3 parents per classroom help. If you are planning on helping at classroom parties please know you will have to prove you are vaccinated in order to be in the building. Also, we can’t allow siblings since we are limited in space in our classrooms. Thanks for understanding!

School Bathrooms

Please have a conversation with your child about being respectful to our bathrooms here at school. We have been having major issues with students throwing toilet paper/ paper towels on the floors, water all over the floor, and even urinating on the floors. This is unacceptable behavior and not fair to those who have been cleaning it up. Please, please, please have a conversation with your child.
