Attendance

Please be sure to check in and do your attendance daily.  This is important so we can be assured students are participating in school.  Student daily attendance is an indicator for our school funding from the state.  Very similar to our census, the higher the student average student attendance in the district the larger the revenue for the school.  Please make this a priority for your child every day.

Expectations for Learners

Students will:

  • Attend all live events scheduled during their assigned class time (Vital). 
  • Keep cameras on until the class is dismissed by the teacher.
  • Log into Google Classroom daily and complete the classwork assigned.
  • Receive asynchronous instruction outside of live class times to engage in during their remote days.
  • Abide by all school policies, including the acceptable use policy for technology
  • Respect the rights of all other learners, including privacy.
  • Communicate with teachers any needs or questions they have related to engaging in remote learning.
  • Nightly homework will be limited and focused on reading. 

Details:

  • Live Lessons may be recorded for students not in attendance or pre-recorded videos of lessons may be used (Teacher teaching on separate video, curriculum related materials like Lucy Calkins, etc.)
  • Video content will be available for students that are unable to attend live sessions.

Arrival:

  • Students will arrive at school between 8:45-9:00 AM
  • Doors will not open until 8:45 AM
  • There will be no supervision on playgrounds in the morning
  • K-2 students will enter through door W2  
  • 3rd-5th will enter through door W1
  • Students will either report to the cafeteria for breakfast or immediately to the classroom for morning work.
  • Bell at 9:05 AM then announcements and start our day.
    • Announcements will still be posted virtually for students at home
      • Attendance will also still need to be taken for students at home.


Dismissal:

  • Students will be dismissed beginning at 1:45 PM.
  • Bus riders will be dismissed at 1:50 PM from doors W2 and W1
  • Walkers and  car riders will be dismissed at 1:55 PM from doors W2, W1, E1, and N1
  • Buses will leave by 2:00 PM.

In order to keep all our families, students, and staff safe please make sure everyone is wearing a mask and practice socially distancing. 

Food Service Information

  • All students qualify for free lunch until the end of the school year
  • Lunch counts will be taken daily
  • No cards will be necessary in the lunch lines
  • Only one choice will be offered for hot lunch
  • Students can still bring a cold lunch from home
  • The district will be sending home information for families to opt into the take home food program.
  • Students will be able to take home breakfast and lunch for the days they are not at school, including weekends.

Cleaning Procedures

  • When a symptomatic student or close contact has been identified in the classroom, the custodian or other trained staff will initiate cleaning and disinfecting procedures.
  • All students need to wash hands - preferably with soap and water - at the following times:
    • When arriving to school
    • After blowing nose, coughing, sneezing
    • After restroom use
    • Before and after eating
    • Before and after recess
    • Before leaving school
  • Hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol may be used when soap is not available
  • Students will be taught to wash their hands for 20 seconds. Please help practice this at home.

Safety

All students and staff will wear facial coverings at all times in the building

  • No facial coverings are required outside if social distancing can be practiced 
  • Students who refused to wear a mask
    • We will work collaboratively with the families to fix these problems. 
    • Remote learning is an option if all other attempts at remediation are unsuccessful.
  • We will have extra masks for students who forget their masks 
  • Students are not required to wear masks at recess if social distancing can be maintained. 
  • Staff and students will be taking mask breaks throughout the day.
  • Students will be socially distanced throughout the school day.

Hallways, Locker/Cubbies, Drinking Fountains, Bathroom Breaks:

  • Limit the number of students in the hallway at one time (under 50 people) 
  • Supervise bathroom breaks to ensure social distancing and maximum number of students in the restroom at one time.
  • Scheduled bathroom breaks 
    • Created by teachers that share a bathroom
      • Consider AM and PM routines, Lunch
  • Post visuals to support hand hygiene in the restrooms
  • Use hallway markings while waiting in line (6 ft)
  • Elevator capacity is two students with one adult
  • Lockers will be used but assignments will be structured to maximize distancing between lockers.
    • See your building principal for more information.
  • Drinking fountains (Bottle Fill Only)
    • Don’t place your bottle against the nozzle refill
    • Allow water to flow for 10 seconds before drinking
    • Utilize social distancing markings while in line

Bus Riders

  • All students will wear masks
  • Students will be socially distanced as much as possible
  • Please have your student dress warmly as windows in the bus will be open for ventilation
  • Food and drinks will not be allowed on the bus

Reminders

  • Continue filling out attendance daily
  • Please be patient with our classroom teachers. They are working extremely hard and are figuring all of this out as we go with being in person teachers, hybrid teachers, and remote teachers. They have and will continue working hard to do what is best for our students.
  • If a technology problem happens please let your classroom teacher know about it. 
  • If a live lesson freezes or is disconnected please wait or try signing off and then back in. If it is a problem on our side we will communicate out to parents.
  • Please fill out the Self Certification Form.
  • Continue talking with your students about the importance of mask wearing, hand washing, and keeping their distance.

Final Note

As always we appreciate all of the help and support that we are getting day in and day out from all of our parents/ guardians. We are all in this together and we are working very hard to do what is best for our students. Please continue the support at home and talk to your students about the importance of staying socially distanced, washing their hands, and wearing masks. We want this return to in person learning to be successful and last for as long as we possibly can. We love having students in our buildings and can’t wait for next week! Please remember we have no school on Monday and will start with our Hybrid B students on Tuesday. Also, Friday’s will continue to be remote learning for all of our students. Supply pick up for remote students will be every Friday from 9:00-11:00. Our hybrid A and B students will get the materials they need when they leave the days they are here. I am really sorry for the long message but it has a lot of important information that pertains to our return to learning plan next week.
